I believe LVD is Traxxas version of LiPo Cutoff. I know if you are using LiPo on the NEW version of the XL-5 it will turn off when the LiPo gets low. Good luck

The new XL5 does LVD or lipo cutoff but i do believe it has to be turned on/off when programming it through ezset.

Just 'cause its waterproof, doesn't automatically mean its got LVD. I've got three Slashes, all waterproof, none have Low Voltage Cutoffs.

there are 3 versions to the xl-5. yellow-old non-waterproof, blue-waterproof, and blue-waterproof w/ lvd. the newest one with lvd says it on the esc somewhere near the on/off button

The blue with lipo cutoff has the traxxas in red on a black background and it also says low voltage detection.

turn on esc
press and hold power button for 10 seconds, untill it beeps. light should go from red to green, or green to red.

if it doesnt do this, you dont have it. if it does beep and change color, your good to go. just double check its on the correct color.

Since I was downstairs anyway, decided to go try something. I threw the nine cell NiMh from my crawler (11.70 volts) in a spare Slash we have laying around. Up on a stand it did turn on, servo worked, and even holding turned front tires, and blipping the throttle, it didn't glitch. But, remember that's on a stand, not on all fours with a load on it.

Think I'll just stay with the 7.4v Li-Po for now,
better save then sorry and smoke the XL5

I'll just go down to a Titan 550 12t motor

Just for the hell of it I plugged in a 3cell 11.1v 1500mAh Li-Po into my Traxxas XL5 esc and took out my Ax-10 for a test run
All I can say is WOW speed was very fast, only stopped because the grub screw came loose on the pinion gear..
