Arrow Brushed Motor Choice - Holmes Hobbies, Tekin, ?

Trying to decide what brushed motor I should go with for my SCX10 2 build. I will be using the rig for crawling on rocks most of the time but i would also like it to have a bit of pep if possible. Crawl-ability is the most important thing though.

Current electronics on the truck are as follows: 3S 65C 2400mah, HH BR-XL WP ESC, HH SHV500 Servo.

My short list is:
- HH CrawlMaster Pro 540 13T
- Tekine Pro Brushed Hand Wound 30T
- HH TorqueMaster Pro 540 27T

I am leaning towards the HH CrawlMaster Pro 540 13T at this time but i would welcome some feedback on if this is the better choice for my rig. Thanks!

We just got the HH CM Expert 13T for our RTR AX10 Deadbolt and it is nice. It has good slow speed control but has plenty of pickup too. On a 3S it seems way faster than the stock Axial 20T motor. It's a bit challenging for the kids to learn with, but dad loves the speed.

From your list I would go with:
HH CrawlMaster Pro 540 13T

TeamBrood also sells some pretty nice motors.

I really like this one with a HHK-T Armature in a 30t

I just got a Crawlmaster Pro 16t and am very happy with it. The low speed control is very smooth. I have also run my buddies Torquemaster Expert 35T and it is very nice as well.

My personal favorite is the CrawlMaster Pro 13t. The "crowd favorite" is typically the TorqueMaster 35t, mostly because folks are more hesitant to use something called a 13 turn.

Number 1 for crawling is 13t crawlmaster. For G6 type driving it's a 30t ... in both cases i run 3 cell and i like 6.5 to 7.0 final gearing. I run tall tires 5.75 for 2.2's and 4.75 on 1.9's.

By final gearing do you mean spur and pinion? Your numbers sound high for final gearing at the axle shaft.

What does the 30t have over the 13t crawlmaster that makes it better for G6? I do trailing and crawling with my bomber on 3s, and I am getting talked into a 13t crawlmaster in my similar thread.

Thanks John. I have decided on the CMP 13T. What kind of gearing or FDR would you recommend on a SCX10 2? I am running 3S on 1.9 TSL XL tires.

Curious about this as well? What would make the 30t a better choice for G6, is it a heat issue from prolonged use?

Stock gearing is perfect

No particular reason, I would not hesitate to run a 13t crawlmaster in a g6. I wouldn't hesitate to run anything in my store, everything has been heavily g6 tested.

To jump in on this post. The 13T Crawlmaster Pro. What can it be compared with in turns? 30 or 35? Or is that comparing apples and pears.
Btw JRH, on your site i only see the CM Pro 11T. Is the 13T not available?

It's around double when comparing to a 3 segment armature. A 13t is around a 27t or so....16t is the 35t comparable...

Thanks Eddie! Great info....
I did look at your motors also. However it's a bitch having them shipped to the Netherlands. They just are not available here in Europe as far as i know (hole in the market?).
Also there is so much choice that i just don't understand where to look

Not trying to hijack the thread but I am also looking for motor suggestions for my scx10 II. I will be using my Novak goat 3s esc running on a 2s 45c 4200 mah and stock gearing. My driving plans are to be mostly trail with some crawling class 1 scale type of stuff. I do have the option to run on 3s but would like to stick with 2s as that's the most I can run on my honcho with rooster crawler. Or I can save the goat for something else and get a new esc motor combo.

So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated or if I left out any vital info please let me know.

Drop the goat and go with a 3s compatible ESC...holmes hobbies 13t crawl master pro or expert....you can use ESC's from dynamite, holmes hobbies and the axial AE-5....depends on what you want to spend. I personally run the AE-5...while many will tell you the AE-5 is no good, burns up etc....I have 6 rigs running it and have yet to have any issue with them in over a year and they are reasonably priced....

Thanks for the replies!

Seems like the crawlmaster pro 13T is the way to go for my new rig. I will also upgrade some other items aswell from HH like a esc and servo. But as previously mentioned by another member on here I cant seem to find the 13T on the HH site.

for some reason the new site doesn't show items that are out of stock, because of how we configured the products to have all winds or Kv's within the single product. We are making a big batch of 13t motors right now. Have about 30 being built today, and another 30 being wound.
