Default HH brushless revolver black

"Another newb question"
I'm picking up one of these from a buddy. will be using it with a sidewinder SV2 and 2s lipo pack.
These items will be going in a Venom Crawler.

Just wondering if anyone here has used this motor?
How do/did you like it?
I am currently running a stock 35T motor and 15 tooth pinion. I am also running the stock esc and 3300 nimh battery.
I was hoping to get close to the same speed out of the Revolver (1100 KV) that I am getting with the 35T so I may need to change out the pinion to a 17 or 19 tooth gear.

Do you think a 19 tooth gear would be too much for this motor and make it run too warm or loose much torque?

I will be playing in the rocks and just general wheeling. No comp.

Enough babbeling.
thanks for the help

Your best bet would be to run it on 3S lipo.

I ran one on a sv2, 3 cell. Lots of cogging, and I had it geared really low

Thanks for the help.
Just bought a 2200 mah 3S lipo. Will pick up another later.

Hope I don't have the same Cogging issue. Price is right so I will give it a chance.
It will go in the wifes rig if I don't like it

Castle ESCs are not the best solution for brushless and smooth

not true. I ran the castle Mamba Max Pro 1cell (with a BEC) on my Novak Brushless ballistic 18.5T motor and it was the smoothest i've had, period! Smoother than my Brood 35t brushed motors i'm running in my xr10 now.

Ballistic = sensored
Revolver = sensorless

sensorless demand special adjust from ESC. Quark offered the best ESC for sensorless

Right, but your reply was as such that Castle in general doesn't produce ESC's to handle brushless motors. I was just saying that's not true.

I'm seriously considering swapping out my team brood brushed motors in my XR10 for two brushless motors to see how it is. The only thing that sucks about that is you will have to have two ESCs to run the two sensors. No more dig switch and one more wire!

You will likely NOT not like the reduced/non-existant drag brake of the BL motors.

I do like CC ESC's over the FX-R's (I ran 2 Mamba Max ESC's, now run 2 FX'R's). The FX-R's are smaller....but that is about it in my opinion.

Well, I appreciate the knowledge on here so I can understand these motors and electronics better.

I have been spending the last 20+ years building full size wheelers and now I need to learn what makes the little ones tick!

My first "real" crawler motor was the black Revolver. It didn't do the super low speed stuff well...pretty much any sensorless brushless motors don't.
