Default Futaba 3PDF problems

Ive had the older model futaba for several years now it was my first "nice radio". I recently ran it with my ofna buggy and i had no travel for the brakes i figured it was the junk servos i had until earlier today i swapped it over to my TLT and nothing would happen in reverse. I messed around with a JR that i had lying around and it worked fine which ruled out the speed controller that I hoped would have been the problem. In an attempt to see if the board was fried i gave it full trim in reverse with 50/50 results some time it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. I think it could be the trigger's pot but that doesn't explain why the trims dont work. Do you guys have any ideas on how to fix this thing, just find a pot at radioshack or should i just use this as an excuse to buy a spektrum

You can open up the trx and swap out the 2 outer wires of the pot for the throttle.if you have reverse in the forwad position then the pot is bad.then check the pot to see if it has the resistance printed on it and go to rs or a good electronic store to see if they have one.
now,if your really looking for an excuse to buy a steptrum them this is a prime reasoning to buy one:-P

yeah but i dont have 250 bux they better have that two rx deal for along time.

by outer wires you mean the ones coming off of the pot right? so basiclly im checking to see if forward goes out and I have reverse instead correct?

Thats what i mean.there should be 3 wires on the pot.all the trx i have has 3 wires on them.i don't have that model trx .this should tell you that the problem is the switch.after doing this and you push the trigger forward (normall direction for reverse)it still shouldn't work if the pot is bad.the rc sould now be going in reverse.if the oposite happens then the problem should be in the trx

after tearing it apart again there is no way to remove the pot from the trigger with out mutilating it. I cant really cross the "wires" because there only metal strips. Im getting really pissed here cause its such an easy fix, but if worse comes to worse i suppose ill just buy the newer model 3PDF because i already have two Rx for it.
