Angry Broken Shaft on 10T Puller

Well anger + brute force is never a good combination.

I ended up breaking the shaft of a 10T Holmes puller. The motor itself has only seen 2-3 1000mah 4s packs...what a shame!

I emailed John already. But what can I do in this situation?

Basic story...I was trying to remove a stubborn set screw to change out a pinon but I put too much blue loctite on apparently and even after heating it and also trying to drill out the pinion I broke the shaft pulling the pinon out.

You can even see that the pinion is STILL on the shaft lol.

Hate to break it to you, but If that's the full size puller, you are pretty much screwed. Those motors have been disco'd for quite a long time.

On a side note, I've NEVER seen something like that before.

I think John has replacement arms for them.

Yeah I've been back and forth with John. He doesn't have any replacements left lol. Fortunately a member here has an extra one but I don't know about $45 shipped!!

I'm wondering if I should repair or swap for a new motor....

45 shipped is a good price for a new arm. I did find a pile of unwound arms here over the weekend, but I don't have the tooling made for my winder yet. We would be looking at about $55 for a freshly wound one, the blanks were really damn expensive.

You know these motors sell for 50-60 in good working condition, right? Even less if it needs a rebuild.

You can find gear pullers on Feebay. Well worth the $$. I've had one from bolink that's every bit of 20 years old and it's saved my ass a bunch of times.
