Default What Radio to use with a 4ws

Ok I am new to this board and new to the whole crawling. I am in the works of trying to make my own crawler out of an E-Maxx and I was wondering what radio everyone uses with the 4ws? I saw the mod for the tq3 i think it was, but i was just wondering if there is any radios that you dont have to mod to get the 4ws to work and work well with? Thanks for any help you can give me, like i said i am new to this whole thing.

Thanks,
MX

I use the Spektrum DX3. The lack of glitching and channel issues were a big selling point. I have seen situations where multiple people were on the same channel, NOT GOOD. My $.02.

your incorrect, not any 3 channel radio will work.

I would just mod the tq3, its easy to do and you already have one.

The TQ3 is a nice "budget radio", but if you're dropping the cash on nice servos, a nice chassis, and such...why not buy a computerized radio?

That way you have EPAs, can mix channels, set throttle expo, etc.

It always amazes me to see guys with over $200 worth of servos using a $30 radio.

A decent radio will not only make setup easier, it'll also be more flexible if you want to use it on other rigs as well.

I have a DX3 and a DX6. The DX3 is great for 2.2s (no rear steer), but I wouldn't use it on a larger (Clod/TXT-based) rig. The DX3 has left/center/right, that's it. Heck, for a 2.2 the DX2 would work, but if you move up to a larger rig, you'll want more flexibility...and more channels.

I like proportional steering on the rear, so I use a DX6 on the larger trucks.

Bottom line....buy the best radio you can afford.

or you can try and get an acoms fm technisport 4ch with 3 servos included for around $95 shipped from rcmart , if you are lucky they might have it in stock , i really like mine, 3ch has left-center-right , #4ch has 4 100% adjustable settings , i own an hi tech lynk 3d and i really like the Acoms much better for crawling

forgot to mention it has individual controls for each channel

The Hitec Crx has the thrid channel mixxing, end point adjustments, 20 model memory. It's a great radio for the price, got mine for less than 200 bucks.

i use the futaba 3pm radio and its good for 4ws but not able to do independent steering, but the spektrum dx6 is a all around good stick radio which has many settings to your style of crawling plus you can have them mod the left stick to self return to center

I am using the Futaba 4WD 4 channel stick, it works pretty well, and already self centers, only issue is it is and AM radio. But if you want to go 2.4Ghz then I'd go with the spektrum, that just my opinion though.
