Default 5995 or 5955?

needing a new crawler servo and i have read some people having problems these servos, but the 333-426oz torque has me interested. the 5955 is multi purpose and the 5995 is robot, but the 426 oz torque!
is one better than the other for our needs

I like my 5955's better, i have melted the case on the 5995's before-never had a problem w/ the 5955's and i'm really hard on stuff! I think part of the 5995's problem is it does not have heatsinks, whereas the 5955 does!

Jeremy,

The torque ratings attracted several folks, but several of them also fried thier servos.

I think this has something to do with the fact that they were using a TQ3 (no endpoints) with thier expensive digital servos. I'm pretty sure you have a nice radio, so this shouldn't be an issue.

I've been using the Airtronics 94359Zs. They're rated at 200oz, they're analog, but they're damned reliable.

If you ask Brian, he'll tell you to go with a nice KO Propo servo.

if you have a clod i think that the robot servo might be better, it has a 180 degree point to point, i've seen some clod owners mount servos the long way up and down. seems like you could benefit from the extra reach. plus Hitec has a good warranty on both servos. i think if you take back your broken servo w/ copy of your receipt. they replace it free. My LHS did it for me for free.i use both of them and they work great. oh yeah by the way, you'll need a controller with an end point adjustment if you get the 5995tg so you can fine tune the endpoints.you will burn your servo if you dont already have one (controller) with endpoints. good luck!

i run an M8 so i have more adjustments than i know what to do with. i was a little concerned with some of the posts at hitec about the robot servo not intended for car use and wouldnt be warrantied.
i have a KO servo in another truck and its done well, but its not 300 plus oz's

I'll agree with Jason. The 359's are a kickass servo. They sling our moab XL's around VERY easily. They are even working better than my 1/4 scales were. Truely a kicka$$ servo in my book,I'll never buy anything else.

I run the 5995tg robots in my crawler. I have burned one up but it was my fault. To lazy to pick the crawler up when it bound into a hole hard. shortly after it melted. They do get hot but as long as its sits a few minutes between packs they dont seem to have problems.

With the servo arms the robots come with 180 works good. I have my travel limited to probly 130 and its perfect for my setup. Oh yeah this is on a clod. Turns moab40s like they arent there and LST's with lead shot without problems

Buy extra servo arms right away. I broke 3 aluminum arms so far at the bolt hole for my steering linkage.

FYI the guy I go crawling with usually runs the 5955 and has burnt one as well. Seems holding them stalled for awhile will kill them.
