Well for some reason the ends of the connectors on my mini-giant are melting 8O every time i run my truck i check if my ESC is getting hot or my motor is getting to hot and so far my ESC hasent generated really any heat but the motor does get alittle warm ( still cant touch it without getting burnt) so i was wondering what was causing this?? oh and the wires are not making contact with the ESC or the motor so thats why it's confusing :? |

I have had that same problem before. The reason for it was resistance through the plug. I dont know what kind of plugs you are running (I have never seen any like that before) But the ones I was having problems with were the standard cheep white plugs. I have since swaped to Deans Plugs and haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.....

that problem is caused by pulling too much current through those wierd connectors. Upgrading to zero loss connectors wil fix that problem. Deans seem to be the most popular, but astorflight makes some, and I think duratrax does too. All you need to look for is a connector that has less resistance than the same length of wire.

you got that right fuzz! this thing is a crazy torq machine! ill be picking up some deans from my LHS tomorow that should solve the problem. im also hearing you get a better connection with deans and motr power from your batt and engine. |

I've heard of similar problems with HPI Micro RS4's, so when I got mine, the first thing I did was Deans it. Also, try some thicker gauge wire, if possible.

Everyone pretty much nailed it. Resistance of the connectors is causing heat. What I'm wondering, though...Did you change the pinion gear when you went to the new motor? You should go down in tooth count on the pinion when going to a "hotter", or faster motor. If you don't have the correct gear ratio the increased amp draw will melt connectors. Changing connectors will help the problem, but I think you also have too large of a pinion for the motor you're using. Install new connectors like these from Dean's... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDKA2&P=ML ...and drop a couple of teeth on the pinion. |

Give it a shot. Should get rid of some heat and amp draw. |

If your running a motor larger than the MRS4's stock one, you will have a little bit of trouble getting the pinion on the motor. I'm running a 370 airplane motor in my micro and I had to install it using a precision adjustment tool (hammer).
