If you had wanted to get a nice setup without too much money, alot of people are using Integy (I believe) 55 turn Lathe motors, as far as ESC's go, it depends how much you want to spend, but you have to choose wisely. For instance, I don't think you'd want to buy the Novak Super Duty esc for 150 bucks if you only wanted to control 1 lathe motor on 1 pack, it wouldn't be smart, although it's a hell of an ESC. Try looking at a smaller setup. Hell, I'll sell you an LRP I have for 30-shipped. It all depends on what ya want

on a truck like that a single 55 might be a little weak if i were you i'd go 65-75 and run 7 or 8 cells but make sure your esc can handle it

For $150 you could get the mamba maxx and have a huge brushed motor capability. Fire up a 65t motor on 9 cells, or light up an outrunner brushless motor too.

im looking to build a good crawler once. I willl spend as much as i need to get a system that works and will be great 4 crawling. dont want to spend money twice. Ive built some great axles(pics in maxx crawler section) and want rest of truck to be realistic and capable. should i go with 2 batteries 2 motors or try to run one? want to keep weight down and center of gravity low.

I vote Brushless. I just recently went to a brushless set up and I'm VERY pleased with the results. It's nice to never stall the motor out, nomatter how big the undercut is or how bound up the truck is,sucker just keeps on keeping on.

I'm getting more power, longer run times and less maintenence just by going brushless. For me,it's the way to go.

Talk to JRH's at Holmed Hobbies for good deals and great service.

There are a few choices. The question is do you want a lightweight crawler specific setup, or a dual purpose like the novak sensored kits.

If you choose sensoreless the next question would be what size motor you want. There are not many choices for a bolt up motor right now, but the Revolver (my brand), and MP-jet motors are it. If you are powering your maxx axles I would suggest the mp-jet 2820 and a mamba 25 controller. If you want overkill on the controller (and brushed capability) get the mamba maxx.
