Default Hitec 7950 Vs Savox SA 1230SG

Looking at getting one or the other for a 1:6 scale on 40 series that I've almost finished.

They both have about 500oz, although the Savox is 6v and the Hitec is 7.4 (not a problem as I have CC BEC waiting)

Just wondered if anyone had some insight into which would be the better choice.

Cheers

All I know is that Savöx tends to make that annoying buzzing sound. Hitec usually is quiet.
And there should be a price differential also.

Savox are goin to be less pricey.. also comes in a bigger shell, as said above, noiser.. my friend runs Savox an his failed today.. he says he won't get another one after this.. he has seen my hitec 7950 work an be abused, take hits an still run top notch, it stays cooler an it is quite! An why would anyone one want to give up the lifetime warranty on a hitec! When the time comes, ill be buying more.. no need to ever change.. my .02

why would you want to run a standard size servo on a 1:6 scale rig!!?? i would look more at the 7980 if i was you.

I have the savox on my XR10, I love it. Should it ever fail I will likely replace it with another.

95% of the crawler servos my son & I run are HiTec. I own a single Futaba BLS197v(?) that came with a used rig.

HiTec is not perfect, but I've heard more issues with Savox.
I never ran them, I can only go by what I've read.

If I need to buy more servos, I will continue with HiTec.

Sooo... Hitec it is! Now just to get the 7950 or the 7980. I don't comp and if the truck gets stuck I just pick it up.

How much bigger is the 80 than the 5O?

Not a lot bigger (you can look them up at www.ServoCity.com) but the 7950 fits stock servo locations with no issues.

That buzzing sound in a savox servo is the digital system trying to center itself. I dont think the buzzing is a reason to avoid the best servos in the world (i.e. savox).

The 7950 is 403oz @ 6v 486 @ 7.4v the 7980 is 500 @ 6v an 611@ 7.4v.... A little diff! But again was asked above.. what servo mounts does it use... Up to you an money to spend... I Have yet to have any problems with my 7950 ever having enough power in my comp rig an its not even turned up to 7.4v..

I just bought my first Savox, and if they are the best, I'll stick with HiTec. It's noisy and glitchy.

ooooh.........that's not gonna grow back.

The mount I have is standard size, I don't know if I should change the mount or go with the 7950.

Anyone used a 7950 on a super etc?

Clearly you have never ran a good high torque High Tec servo. High Tec is leaps and bounds better than Savox. Better product and better customer service. Only thing is a price difference, but like always, you get what you pay for.

I was looking for a good servo. This is making me want to try both if my wallet is deep enough. I would like to see how they compare.

hmmm... my hitec servos are noisy. They buzz with the best of them and that's the digital centering thingy working. BUt, it's been a very durable servo that's for sure.

I ran a 7980 on my XR10 and it ran very hot and glitched when it got hot.

I have been using Savox for a while in a couple of rigs with no issues.

My crawler Hitec servo did last 3 weeks, busted up metal gears.

did buy a savox with Ti gears, still going, both of them and my m8s .

a bit buzzy, but never any glitch or problems, run mine @ 7Volts
glitching servo is most likely wrong wired, if they take up noise you have done something wrong.

hitec or savox dosent rly matter, thay are both great servos.
