Default Adding balance plugs to batteries

Can I do this?

Or will something go horribly wrong?

I've only been using lipo's for a few months so i don't know everything about them, but the Balance plug is to "balance" the individual cells. That is a 2s (2 cell) battery, and it needs to have the cells balanced from the cutoff (usually 3.20v) to max charge (4.20v per cell). I know that 2s batteries have 3 wires on the balance plug, and 3s have 4, so i know that white wire is used for something..... I'm assuming you want to put a deans on to charge the battery? Just buy a cheap Accucel 6 charger (i think its 7.99 for the charger and 9.99 for a dc power supply that does 5amps) from Hobbyking, it charges up to 6s and has a balance slot and a positive/negative slot that you can solder on whatever connector you need. I know that some lipo's have a max amp limit for charging, I'm not 100% sure but i wouldnt try charging that lipo at more than 200 millamps (based on the 160mah rating). I bought 6 of the 2200mah 40c 2s Zippy lipo's from Hobbyking, i charge them at 6 amps (I was told they can be charged up to 8 or 10 amps, not sure). Takes ~30 min to charge and last ~45 min on my scx10 with a 35t motor.

Micro Deans in addition to balance plug...... no problem, go for it.

Switch to Micro Deans and eliminate the balance plug...... bad idea, then how do you balance the cells?

Right. Thanks. I want to splice the red and black wires and put a deans plug on that. I would still use the three wires to balance during charging. I would use just the red and black wires, now split off to plug the battery into the rig.

Take your time, do one side at a time, and you should be fine.

No problem at all, just make sure you don't short the wires when doing it. Cut ONE wire at a time of your cutters will de missing a bit of metal afterwards (don't ask how I know this, it sure does SPARK!)

Use a meter and make sure those are the correct wires you need. I just saw an article somewhere that the balance wires are not color coded the normal way.
