| 3 channels, 4 functions. How do I cheat my radio?
Is there anyway to cheat or mod a 3 channel radio to control 4 functions? Fundamental throttle and front steer, but then I want to run rear steer and shifting the trans. No, I know I can mix front and rear steer on the same channel and switch the polarity to do normal steer, but what if I want to crab or do rear only? I have not purchased a radio, but I can promise I cant afford a 3pmx or a 4pk, so suggestions are welcome. |

It would help if we knew what sort of radio you have.

I am very fond of the MX3, but I dont know what mods have been proven on one for this kinda thing. Two speed trans, so a 2 position switch for shifting would be perfect, and a 3 position would work for the steering. Doesnt necessarily have to be a pot for the rear steer. I wont complain if it is, but its not needed.

Tmk there is no 3ch radio that can control 4 channels like you want. Radios with steering mixing still use all 3 channels. You need a true 4ch radio. Since you are on a budget, go to overkillrc and get one of their hacked flysky gt3b's or new gt3c's which can have 3 to 8 channels from a pistol grip controller for under 100$ the one who owns and runs overkillrc is losikid (a vendor on here) and he provides great support for it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have a 4ch airplane radio. Should I use it, or buy a GT3? I have read lots about them, and like the functions and price. The thing looks kinda funky, but if it works, it works. I just messed around with that 4 channel stick radio. I can shift/ rear steer with the left stick, and throttle/ front steer with the right stick. It will work, just takes some getting used to. I dont comp, so I think the radio will be "fine." Should I just be cautious and make sure no one is flying? Which rarely ever happens anyway, but still. I dont know if a plane radio on the surface is taboo or not. |

Just to be clear, its a gt3B or a gt3C that is hackable, not a gt3.

That may be true but who is going to enforce it if you are bashing your rig in your back yard. And a lot of the guys who are into the 1/14 semis and construction equipment use air radios for the number of channels including myself till I got the hacked gt3b Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I dont think any planes are out where I crawl, and if they are, what is the likelihood they still use 72 and mot 2.4? But I did some Google on it, and found lots of threads stating how bad of an idea it can be, and how no matter what, accidents can happen with interference. So I can have it retuned, or buy a different radio altogether. Or just say fug it and use it? lol Damn crawler. What to do, what to do. I can afford a quality radio, but not $250 radio lol. |
