Default Is my motor screwed?

After hearing some funny noises from the rear axle I check all of the gear meshes to make sure nothing had shifted. I took it for a test drive at night and noticed a ton of light coming from the rear motor. With closer inspection I found it was hot. Upon even closer inspection I found the entire plastic end section had come out of the can. I guess it had been forced out by a rock. Is my motor screwed or fixable? Here's a vid:

Keep yanking on it like that and you will break a brush! The timing ring probably got loose, no biggie if things didn't get smoked. If you want to know whats going on, take it out and take it apart. Remove the springs before taking the endbell off. Some basics of motor rebuilding are on my site. holmeshobbies.com/blog. 540 Brushed Motor Care, Installation, and Troubleshoot | The Search for Power. Not all inclusive or exhaustive, but the timing section will give you an idea of how to set the motor timing again. There are two little screws that pull the timing ring tight, you will need to screw em in to lock in your timing.

It is also good to mark it on the can and the end bell so if you do have to take it apart it can easily be found, both of my HH and Brood have these markings. John and EddieO will treat you right and make some of the best products IMO which is why I run both of their motors.
