Default how do you waterproof a lipo?

i have some sky lipos. some hard case.. i was thinking about cover them in silicone.. any other ideas?

No need to waterproof a LiPO. You could use tiquid electrical tape to seal the case, but don't worry about the cells themselves.

Silicone cures with acetic acid offgassing, I don't recommend using it on anything unless you get electronics grade as it will corrode anything metal. Otherwise a lipo pouch is waterproofed by nature.

i wrap a layer of elec tape around lipos and i drove 1 in my pool when testing to see how waterproof a cc-01 i had was. still was able to use that pack in a truck at the track

Where does one purchase electrical grade silicone? Radio Shack?

Guess I didnt realize it's so common, I don't recall seeing any labeled as "electronics safe"? The regular automotive stuff is not safe for electronics?

I wonder if smurf snot is safe. That's the blue gasket making RTV. I'm guessing it probably out gasses with the bad stuff too.

Yeah a lipo should be waterproof by nature as I always thought lithium and air didn't mix too well! As in fire!

this, the pouches inside are sealed. at 12volts, you won't see any shorting. now 5s and up, i guess there is chance for issues......but who runs 18+ volts in a crawling ;)
