| could this bring my onxy 230 back to life?
my ac power supply died so im having to charge with my car battery with dc clip. ive been seeing about modding a pc power supply to work could i do this and have enough power to push the 230 i have a no name 300 watt psu. batterys: 2 sky 3s 1300 mah losi 250 mah micro trekker battery 3000 mah 7.2 nicad onxy battery and 1600 mah as well |

It should work. A 500 watt would be better, but it'll work.

A 300 watt power supply will power your charger to its limits without pushing the power supply very hard. If you look up the Onyx 230 power consumption specs they are as follows: "AC 50W, DC 70W, 2C limit for lithiums" So when operating on DC mode, the charger puts out a maximum of 70 watts. If you figure a charger is about 70% efficient (just a low guess, solid state voltage regulator are generally 90%) then a 100 watt power supply would be needed to allow the charger to perform to its limits. |

another way to look at it is amps. it may be a 300W PS, but there will be like +12v 7Amp, -12v 0.5Amp, +5v 3Amp on the tag. if the most you are running your charge cycle at is 3-4 amps you have plenty of room on the +12v circuit
