Default sparky smoky motors

i have waterproofed my rigs pretty well and dont have any problems except... my tekin 35t seems to not work real well with water. It tends to spark some and get very hot when its wet. yesterday it was making a clicking/sparking sound after some water splashing and before i could take the body off of it, it slowed down and quit. it wouldnt do anything. brought it home, still nothing. today i finally got it to run. not sure what i did to get it to turn over. It was my understanding brushed motors are ok for water? are rebuildable motors not ok?

thanks!

The motor probably needs cleaned and/or rebuilt. If you are not cleaning out the motor and re-oiling it after playing in the water the life is shortened even further. The water wears the brushes down much faster.

I would have a motor for running around in water and a crawling motor or just buy cheap closed endbell motors for water and junk them when they stop working.

Not to mention that (as opposed to brushed motors) brushless inrunners work very well completely sealed, since you don't have to cool the rotor.

Brushed motors in water works well until there's something else in the water, like minerals (salt) or mud. As soon as impurities are added, which they are if you run outdoors, it becomes more hit or miss...
