Default Wiring question

I just got my BEC and new servo, and am trying to hook it all up to the stock AR-3 transmitter. I take it from the CC diagram that I disconnect the red wire from the ESC. And the BEC plug goes into the BAT plug on the AX-3, Servo goes to STR, ESC goes to THR, and the lighting goes into channel 3? When I do this the lights just stay on and don't turn off, am I doing something wrong? Also I re-ran all my wiring and now that I have all new electronics I have no idea which way the plugs go into the AX-3. They go in both ways, does polarity matter on these? For instance the BEC/ESC wires are orange/red/brown. Does the Orange or the Brown sit closest to the AR-3 sticker/logo?

your orange wires should be closest to the logo/sticker.. The brown is your ground wire..

Typically the ground is located toward the outside of the case, closest to the edge. It is that way on every ESC that I own.

Close.....the darkest wire in the RX plug typically goes to the edge of the RX.
This means the black or brown wire towards the RX case edge.

[it's not just the ESC wire, it's any plug going into the RX]

Awesome guys thanks for your help. Any ideas on how to wire up my lights so they aren't on all the time? The channel 3 keeps the lights on constantly.

Yes they will be on as long as the battery is plugged in, rather than whenever the esc is turned on because of the bec
