Default Mamba Max running brushed motor?

I have two old Mamba Max ESCs (not the Pro) that I want to run in a crawler I'm building. They run a brushless motor just fine but when I plug in my brushed motor (Axial 55T), all it does is pulse in forward and reverse. I know the motor is fine because I had an XL-5 running it with no problems. I'd really like to use the Mamba Max because I like that it can (or should) run brushed and brushless. I've followed Castle's directions for which wires to use, I've tried recalibrating the end points, I've updated to the latest firmware, and both ESCs still act the same. Any ideas?

Sorry, nevermind! I have a bad habit of posting before searching. I just learned that it doesn't automatically switch between brushed and brushless. Changed the settings and it's all good.

You have to get a castle link and change settings from brushless to brushed.

No, it can be done by the transmitter. (I did!)

What are you talking about? You cannot change between brushless and brushed on your esc through your tx.

Ummm...you're wrong.

This.... http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...s_ed_guide.pdf

Describes how.

Page-20 explains getting into "radio programming" / manual mode
Page-34/35 explain how to change motor type.

I prefer using the CC Link, but you can do some things without it.

Wrong, and wrong again. Posting false information is not helpful.

http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...s_ed_guide.pdf read....

You don't even need a Castle Link to program a Mamba Max. Just a USB to mini USB.

666: Wrong and wrong again, sort of...
- The Mamba Max can very well be programmed using the radio only. (I used this for my MMP before I got the USB adapter.)
- While you don't need the adapter for the older Mamba Max, you still need Castle Link (which is software).

I stand corrected. I use the castle link..... But memory served me all could be done but swapping from brushless to brushed.

Dude......you can program a MM with a cable & the software (which is free)....thus no need to pay for a CastleLink. I believe this is what 666 was referring to.
Sorta splitting hairs with a mod........Not what I would do.

NP, we should all strive to learn something new every day.

PS, due to the number of CC BEC's & ESC's in our house, I ALWAYS use the CC Link.
