| I need some help picking out my electronics...
I have been out of the hobby for about 6 or 7 years, and electronics have gotten quite a bit more advanced in that time. I'm looking to build up a fairly middle of the road scx10, and I want to run lipo for sure, but that's all I really know, and after that I'm totally lost. I also don't want to break the bank, and keeping things simple would be awesome, haha I'm just looking for some pointers for a decent esc that can run lipo, and what I should be looking at for batteries also. Thanks for looking y'all |

Check out the Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster Expert combo. The combo has both the ESC and the motor. A 35T motor does well in the SCX10. TorqueMaster Expert combo I would run a 3S lipo with a 35T motor. The amount of run time you get depends on the mah rating of the battery. I run a 1300 mah 35C battery due to the smaller size. Other people like the longer run times of the larger batteries. For the C rating, get the highest C rating that you can afford. I have been using these lipos in my SCX10. Holmes Hobbies / Holmes Bikes :: Batteries - Lithium :: HMC 35C 1300mah lipo |

If you're building the truck mostly for trailing, the Axial AE-2 ESC works fine and can be had for $50-$60 if you look around. Plus for trailing, a 2S LiPo works well. It'll push your truck around faster than you can walk after it. A far as LiPo's, most are running 3000-4000mAh, but it depends on where you're going to mount it. I run 2 2000mAh in parallel, one on each of the rock rails on my Dingo and use the same LiPo's stacked in my Honcho across the frame in front of the motor/tranny. These get me an easy 2-2.5 hrs of trail running with a 27T and 30T motor respectively. |

You guys are giving me exactly what I'm looking for. I don't think 135 for that combo is too bad at all, and I really like the idea of running two smaller packs in parallel to allow me to move them around to get better weight distribution than having one big brick that limits my options. Would I be okay with that esc/motor and two of those 2c batteries in parallel? My next question is what do I need for a basic charger that won't fry my batteries, but is still VERY simple to use, haha Thanks again |
