| Using Piranha to charge DX3
Anyone using thier Piranha charger to charge the DX3 through the DX3's charging jack? If so, just wondering what settings your using, don't want to melt anything in the DX3. Thanks. PS I have this charger http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCLD5&P=ML Last edited by cheapjeep2; 09-02-2006 at 10:46 AM. |

I don't use the charging jack, I pull my 8 cell holder out of the radio. I figure it's better to be safe, then to fry something if something were to go up in smoke. I have alligator clips on the end of some wire, and clip them on the end of the holder. Then I use 0.7 amps, 3 mV sensitivity, and then 2500 mah for the capacity (2500 Energizers). After reading a crapload about AA batteries, 0.7 amps seems to be a good setting. Oh, and I let them trickle at 0.1 amps for another hour or two.

most computer radios have a feedback dioide err something to that effect and when charging Nimh it can screw witht the chargers ability to sence peak and either make the charge fail or worse cause you batts to overheat and blow, I always take my pack and holder out after I nearly melted down my R-1.
