| Hitec 7950 waterproof?
Does anybody know if the hitec 7950 is waterproof? I'm building a beast wraith and want it ready for anything.

Is that hitec's way of saying waterproof but no warranty on water?

No. They have their water resistant servos and their water proof servos.

Got it. Can take a splash but not a dunk. Thanks. I got a nib one for 75 bucks from a friend that needed some funds.

I pulled my 7950 apart and packed it full of dielectric grease. I accidentally dunked it submerged last weekend a few times and it's still going strong. With that much $$ in a servo, I prefer to stay out of the water. |

if you want some extra protection after the gease dip it in some plasty dip its like a rubber that cures around the servo you can run under water after that

my 7950 has survived 3 drownings (truck submerged) and quit a few (hundred) G6 splashes My comp rig has about the same & it's still going strong I'm not saying it's OK submerge your servo, but I think its good for a splash or two

I fill my servos with dielectric grease. I've coated and sealed in the past but water still finds a way in. At least with the grease it's much harder for any intruding water to cause a problem. My rigs get wet almost every outing (the joy of living in a rainforest) but since I started using grease I've not had any more water issues.

My tip: Check the o-rings. My 7950s have survived snow bashing, several splashes and an occasional dunk.... up until the o-rings dry rotted and crumbled away. |

Motor area too, and I conformal coat the PCB (if it's not already) while I'm in there.
