Still looks like that tool is rotated 90deg clock-wise (on it's side), to me. Somebody else mentioned it, as well. Am I just seeing things? Or is this tool designed this way?

this is the best info you can find on the net. RC Motor Black Book - HobbyTalk this is what most read to get to where we are now with what we know and refer to. |

They work but are a pain to get used to and lots more can go wrong....and often you can do little to stop it as its on auto. I have one.....I think I used it twice and was like, F this.... Later EddieO |

Wow, didn't know there is some movements in my thread.... @laxjj14 - the website that you found the lathe is a bit suspicious as if you decide to buy it, they will tell you there is no stock.... I tried them with the 3racing CVD for SCX10 and got same result... @KJ10 - I think the tool is fitted correctly, but I may try to fit it 90 deg and try again. @activethunderrc - Yeah I got lots of great info from there. Ok, I have a question, when you finish cutting the comm, do you need to run the blade or knife between the comm segments to clean up the blur? I found that its rather hard to do that.... Maybe I am still cutting too thick... |

The back side of a exacto works well.....its thicker and doesn't float out of the slot and mark the comm as easy. I only do it if there is a lot. Typically when you run it washes them away. I do blow mine out with air, but make sure your compressor doesn't let water through....water will muck it up. Later EddieO |

Thanks for the tips guys... I always use the sharp side of the exacto knife and skid off to the comm surface and have to redo it..... Luckily I have only cut one comm that's is from a good motor. The rest is from scarp armature.... |

I also use the back side of an X-acto blade then i follow with the tip of a ball point pen. It smooths the edges of the comm. Was a huge part of thursday night ritual motor maintenance before brushless came along |

Yeah, back side of a blade, or even your fingernail. Fingernails are softer and don't damage the surface if you slip. No ball point pen for me, I want instant on/off for the segments. |
