Just Ordered Ridgecrest - Need Battery

Hi All, I've just ordered the ridgecrest and now need to get a battery/charger. I was going to stay with nimh since I had a charger, but for the cost of nimh cells versus lipo's it's not worth it.

That said I'm looking at a 5000 mAh 7.4V 65C lipo but it is in a hardcase. Does the hardcase pose any problems for the ridgecrest?

You will pay a little more for a hard case battery and it will weigh a little more but that is really it.

Just check the dimensions of the hard case battery to make sure it will fit in the battery tray.

Thank you! I don't have the ridgecrest yet...do you know the dimensions of the tray? The battery I'm looking it measures 135x45x25mm.

That will fit. The battery you are looking is about the same size as a 6 cell stick.

Hard case is the way to go for a crawler. Hobby king has 5200 2s Turnigy's that i use in my Dingo that are great Quality and were i think about 25 bucks a piece. As far as i can tell, they last for awhile. I have been running two packs for over a year and they have not skipped a beat. Just make sure to "store" them if your not planning on using them for a bit. Also a good charger Helps too. If you don't already have one, don't be afraid to drop some extra coin on one with a digital read out. Then you can monitor your battery through out their life span.
