| Problem with bluebird servo
I got my bluebird servo in the mail today. What a POS. I tested it out, and when I turn it to the left several times very quickly, the thing spazes out and does a 90 degree turn the other way, and then centers itself. Works fine if I turn it slowly, or the other direction. I made a video showing what it does. It's only 300kb so it should be dialup friendly. www.toyotaoffroad.net/afertig/temp/bluebird.wmv I emailed Balsa today, and am waiting to hear back from them. Anyone ever dealt with them? I hope they dont try and charge me shipping or something stupid. |

In that video is really hard to see it malfunctioning because you don't see the inputs ..... can you make another video showing the servo and the transmitter so we can see what your trying to get it to do..... I have 2 bluebirds and I spun a gear in one of them. Then when I was taking it apart to fix it I noticed that the wires that are soldered onto the back of what appeared to be the motor where really sloppy and one of them appeared to be grounding out. so I just tweaked the solder tab a bit off the back surface of the motor so it couldn't short out. btw fixing the spun gear was really easy. I just used a center punch to peen the two gears back together. still working good. |

Rick, I tried a Bluebird. It broke practically the first run! One of the center gears spun out on me and the servo would just spin and spin and spin. Rather than trying to fix it I just sent it back for refund. They weren't going to do it at first. Their refund policy is pretty strict and they were taking forever so when I finally was able to get ahold of them I had to get really strict with them on the phone! They finally did refund it but I still lost whatever I paid for shipping the servo to get it AND the shipping to send it back............. .........Needless to say I won't be dealing with them anymore. I was trying to turn Narrowed Kongs with it btw, which it did quite well.........until it broke.........you get what you pay for. |

The one that I spun a gear on, did it in me in my garage on the work bench! But really its a simple fix with a center punch....... I would have taken pictures of how I fixed mine but my digital camera sucks big time at closeups, so I didn't......

In that video, I was simply turning it very quickly several different times in one direction. left , left, left, left, and then the thing would do a 90* turn by itself.

I have an emaxx that I just installed a bluebird on and had a similar problem. I removed the novak xrs speed control and reinstalled the novak evx (converted to single motor/ single battery setup) and solved the problem. The bec circuit in the xrs will not handle the current draw of a high torque servo in a high load application. You should also check the routing of the antenna wire and make sure it is not close to any other wiring (battery, motor, esc, etc.). Max |

Well I'll be damned. i hooked up my 6v RX pack (which is actually just about dead, needs recharged) and it works fine now! When i switch the esc off and bypass the BEC, the servo barely moves because my rx pack needs recharged. but when i switch it back on, with the rx pack connected, it works great! no glitching! and when i unplug the rx pack, it goes back to glitching! Thanks max_underdrive! I nominate you as newbie of the year! |
