Battery Question?

What size batteries are most of you using. I am using my old SC truck batteries at 5000mah/40c. I am thinking they are too big. I have been reading up on some posts and it seems I can get away with a lower C rating.
Any help would be most helpful.

I run 2650 3s 40c and 45c on my scx10's and my wraith. If you are worried about the c rating being higher that is a good thing. I am not a battery expert but from my understand the higher the c rating, the less stress put on your battery which will make your battery have a longer life. I have used 20c and 25c batteries but they were garbage after just a few months. My oldest battery that I have now is over 1 year with a lot of use and it is still going strong. It is a 40c.

Good question. I'll add a bit to it. I have some 5000mah 40c but it seems like everyone is running super small, low mah lipos. What mah is ideal for crawling as far as runtime and physical size?

It depends on what kind of crawler you have. Most people that I know that run scx10's and wraiths run between 3000mah and 8000mah just depends on what they have room for what they are set up for and pesonal preference. Most of the comp crawlers and sporty rigs usually run 1300mah and lower because of size and weight.

I run 2s 5A 50c & 6.6A 65c in my wraith that also run my sct. I'm thinking of trying a 4.2A 65c shorty in the wraith.

Chris, what are you wanting to run? Scaler or comp rig?

Mostly scale. If I ever build a comp rig I know those batteries are smaller.

For my honcho I run single/dual 1300's. 45min-almost 1.5hrs runtime.
Wraith has 2650's, all 3s.
The hammer has 2200's and gets well over an hr trail running.
