ok I am building an autonomus robot. It is going to be a tmaxx converted to 4link, 4ws and electric. I am not looking for it to be an extreme crawler as it will be driving it self but able to do some rugged off roading, I guess a really good trail rig. So I need to know what motor will give me good power at 5 to 10 mph and have really good run times(the longer the better). I have a rooster esc, can I run 2 batteries on it? Thanks for the help and the construction starts soon!

An automiton eh....... Have you thought about an integy lathe motor? They are cheap and come in a variety of turns, 35 thru 75 i think. Alot of people here run an integy lathe motor, and from heresay they are a good motor from what i gather. |

A Lathe motor is the obvious choice. Any will give you good runtimes, and as Canadian Crawler said, you've got 35-75 turns to choose from. The more turns, the slower it'll be. But the real question is, what kind of automation will this thing have? What, are you running some kind of Mini Darpa Challenge? |

t-maxx or e-maxx. the lathe motors are a good choice. If your familiar with batteries you may want to consider running lipo's to save weight. I would imagine running a bunch of electronics to make this thing go by itself is going to get pretty heavy

It is for a fun but hope to do robo magellan challenges with it. they give you gps coordanites and it goes and finds them. but I want mine to be alot more extreme than the ones in the challenges. It is going to be controlled by an Pocket PC(my Ipaq). the electronics will be fairly light. It is going to have ultasound range finder , gps, tilt senser, compass, video regonition and what ever else I can think of that will help it. i dont see it being much heavier than the tmaxx but we will see. Should be alot of fun and challenging. with the lathe 35 still have plenty of torque to do some steep hills if not light crawling? thanks for the help |

a stock racing motor is 27 turns, i had a 45t for a whle and it was a bit to fast for my tlt, didnt seen to have quite enuf torque. 55t seems to be a good mix of speed and torque as well it will last longer on a charge. wil you be running dual motors?

I am going to only run 1 motor on a custom tranny. What final gear ratio should I shot for? Thanks for the help. and can I run two batteries on the rooster?
