Default Tekin RS Dead but works with hotwire!?!?

Short story, I ran my truggy without a bec to test the suspension, but like a moron kept going 'cause the rig was going great. I knew that It may get hot for powering the servo but it would just cut...

So anyway I keep running until it cuts for being hot.

Take the other rig and keep going.

Same night, I install my bec, try to power the RS and nothing. cancel the on/off switch as it gave me trouble in the past....Nothing...

I cancelled all the motor leads and sensor wire take make sure I only had the battery lead installed.... Plugged in the battery and nothing..

But when I plug the hotwire, I can read in it no problem....

So did I burn it up or not?

Well for one, you fried the internal BEC...and maybe more
Why would you mess with an expensive ESC ???
I would say you also fried the power sensor, but since it reads with Hotwire who knows. Wen you are hooked up to the Hotwire do you have it plugged into a battery?

I have had this happen as well. Is there a flashing trouble shoot code when you power on the esc, when not plugged into hotwire? My RS died a few years ago and it still flashed firmware with hotwrie. It just wouldn't power a motor. Only ~85 dollars for a new one if you send it to Tekin, that's half price

It reads on the hotwire using only the hotwire. I didn't know I was messing with it as my FXR and RS used to cut before frying something or when getting realy hot. If it really is an expensive ESC why don't it have a realthermal cutoff and such protection?

As for powering it 'on", it only does so with the hotwire... Nothing else. As for sending it to tekin, I did cut the on/off switch while I had the case opened to look inside as I thought the on/off swith leads had pulled off the board... Don't think that if I close it up and send it in, Tekin would accept it...

So the RS you just fried should have as well if your previous RS did. Tekin didn't skimp out on thermal protection. Sounds like maybe you've got something else going on there. Were you using a capacitor?

Yes I do have a capacitor on all my RS's and FXr's... All my setups have been monitored with a temp gun and never get anything over 125F on the motor. The only thing I didn't do this time was run the external BEC. I had done so in the past on one of my FXr's and it just cut when it was unable to continue.

So with the RS i did the same thing. When it stopped, i put it in my truck and puled out my other rig and continued the trail.... It was only after pluggig my external BEC that it would power up. I then unplugged all the RS components, plugged an FXr with a motor and everything wors perfectly.
