kyosho syncro kt-201 issue

hi guys, I have a kt-201 trans/receiver and im just wondering if anyone else is running these? im having what seems to be a range issue with mine. I cant get more then 35 feet away from it or it will loose all function. my question is do I really need to have the antenna sticking up outside of the waterproof box? the stock axial rtr radio set has great range with antenna inside the box so I don't understand this. any help would be great.

well I just read the manual online about this radio, I cant find mine. it says this radio was designed with a surface range of 100m ? I sure wish I knew this before buying it. just wanted to let others know in case they were thinking of this radio.

I'm using it too, mine has good range I think more than 35m, but after a month using it, problem came out. When u turn right 100% my car goes forward and if u turn 100% left goes reverse. I try calibrate it again but same result. I think I will need new radio set that much more reliable.

i use this same radio in 3 different cars (same transmitter 3 rx).....i love it and ive had no range issues..... i would double check the ant wire on the rx... i know the 2.4ghz radios are finicky about that.....mine is coiled up and sealed in a rx box and this thing has a range further than 100m
