Default XL5 ESC for SCX10 Dingo

On budget, have a XL 5; plan to use it for a new KIT. Anyone knows how bad is the rolling on idle while on incline. I dont think i can play with drag brake much. I know this has been asked before. Anyone knows if there is a video for this set up? Thanks

It doesn't have drag brake, but it depends on how you drive. If you plan to do a lot of crawling you'll want an ESC with drag brake. If you do trail driving then it should be pretty good.

I actually do a lot of trail driving and run only about 20% drag brake. If you already have it, just give it a try and see how you like it. if you don't then you can pick up a Castle Sidewinder or AE-2 and you'll have drag brake.

that ESC will go totally into neutral when you let off the trigger. If I recall, some transmitters will apply a brake for you when you let off the trigger but I am not 100%.

Here is something to think about.....the more gear reduction you have the more "mechanical brake" you will have inherent in the vehicle. Also, the higher torgue motor you have the harder it will be to roll in idle...so you may be able to get away with that ESC for trails and small inclines if you plan your gearing

I used a waterproof XL5 ESC/Titan motor set up in my boy's rig for well over a year.

Waterproof, reliable, inexpensive, and fit his driving "style" without issue!

You can usually pick up the stock twin hammer ESCs for $20 or under they are waterproof with a drag break.

i had one in my dingo and it works fine, for rock crawling not so much but for trailing its fine, use brake as drag brake. just takes more skill thats all.
