| 540 motor
I'm looking for an upgraded 540 motor. I'll be using one of RC4WD's compact GRU, but I'd still like to have pretty good torque, but mostly I want cheap. Anyone have one they like? Where'd you get it? I usually like to get stuff from tower, but they've got so many options, and they're not listed by size, so it's hard to compare them.... |

Here is a link to Tower - Here. The integy Matrix Pro Lathe motors are what you are looking for. I'm sure there are vendors here at RCC that sell them as well. Axiom sells high-turn motors too, up to 75t. Keep an eye out for thier banner in the upper right of the forum. |

are you using the gru as a driect drive or inline with a trans or in a clod? if so a 35 or 45 maybe a better choice to help you keep some wheels speed. |

| Axiom motors
Take a look at these, they're supposed to be better than Integy. Only issue I've seen is that they're supposed to run on 12 volts, don't know how they'd run on 7.2. Anyone run them on 7.2 volts? Cheers |

Those are the Axiom motors I mentioned. And technically, the Integy motors are rated for 12v as well. |

It's in my radioshack monster truck. it's currently geared more for speed....but does have a reduction between the motor and diffs. I've always been suprised at how capable it is as-is. but I'd like to get a little more high-torque motor in there, and a GRU. anyway, currently running the stock 7.2V system. so that's something to consider... |

Both the Axiom and Integy motors run fine on 7.2 volts. Is this truck 2WD? |

I'd go with the 35t Axiom and the GRU...Anything else may take all your wheel speed out.

I'd sit down and run some figures. Instead of running a 35t motor geared down, why not just run a 65 or 75t motor without the reduction? Step up a cell or two if you want more wheelspeed.

Anyone know how many turns the stock Tamiya TXT or Clod motor has? They have this motor on the RC4WD site for like $7. I'm thinking about getting it just to simplify the order, and since they were in a truck designed at least to some extent for a crawler, and not so much for speed.
