Default new Tenshock sensored 4 pole

I just ordered one of these to try out , the 2850kv one.
For about $75 it might be a cheap alternative to Pro4/ROC , its also 540 size and sensored.
I love my Tekins but people are always looking for something cheaper .
I know cheaper usually means inferior but I have been giving a Tenshock 6 pole motor death in my SC8 and it performs flawlessly on 4S , cool and awesome power.
When I get it I will post results , it will go in one of my Wraiths on 3S and MMP.

I finally got the motor today, it was a fresh one, the manufacture date is 13 Nov 2013 !
On first impression the vents in the can may be an issue as dirt could get its way into the sensor board and windings, Tekins are a sealed can.
My poor old Pro4 3300 has seen a ton of work but it was the only one I had handy to check against. The Tenshock is the 10.5T 3200KV model.
By turning the shaft by hand I did notice that it turned quite easily, similar to my Pro4. In contrast my brand new ROC 412 3100 is quite hard to turn , I dont know what that means in terms of power output but the magnets in the ROC seemed a lot stronger. I like the 1/8 shaft, you can use down to a 9t pinion without them cracking in half as there is a bit more meat between the hole and the valley of the teeth.
I installed it in my Wraith with MMP on 3S 11/54. I used an adaptor to use the same pinion on the 1/8 shaft.
On my first drive there doesnt seem to be any noticeable difference in power output or control. I purposely strained and loaded the motor in bind type situations to see if I could get it to "pop" but it held up fine. I managed to get about a 20 min run in and motor temps were fine, around 50deg C. Due to limited time and bloody rain I didnt get to take a run around my regular trail run but will hopefully get out one night this week.
So far this motor compared directly to the Tekin 4 pole motors is "wait and see". For half the price of the Tekins it could be a bargain. Time will tell.

I to have been curious about these motors. I have been looking at the 411's. I think they are 550 can size though

The 3656sd is the same price as the tenshock, is sealed, and has a bigger rotor. Ftw

I am interested to hear more on this. Never heard of this motor before but from what you have seen so far it looks promising. Hopefully it does good

The sc racers love the sensored tenshock motors. I was always apprehensive because of the serious venting of the can.

Off topic, anyone know why the outerwears sock that was posted says NOT to use it for crawling applications? Unsure of why it doesn't work.. not enough airflow? Maybe they don't understand gearing either...

Any more feedback on these? Looking to switch to brushless on my scaler, thought these might be worth a try.

After about 10 packs through this motor I have gone back to the Tekin.
Nothing bad to report about it , I just found the Tekin to be smoother at very low speed and the drag brake was not as strong. I ran 70% drag on my MMP and the tenshock was quite a bit faster than the Tekin on similar terrain . This is just a simple fix by dialling up more drag but a fact worth noting.
For the $ these are a good deal and still a huge improvement over a stock setup.
$75 for the motor and a used MMP ($75) for the same price of a Tekin pro4, the only downside is finding out the weak spots in your drivetrain !! (Plenty of torque)
My next home for this motor is with a MMP in a 1.9 SCX, I'll post results when it's done.

I put this in my SCX10 on 3S 14/80 and its beautiful, so much better to drive than the brushed 35t combo that was in there ( wasn't junk either , BRXL & expert 35T) such a sweet rig to drive now.
