Default Electronics Cleaner? that can cut oils, safe on circuit boards?

sprayed the control board/gyros etc on my quad copter with some Corrotion X in prep for a float fly this weekend.
let it dry for a couple days.
just fired it up and its all jack.
fliped and wrecked. replaced props, its all jacked.

are there any cleaners for electronics that can cut oil? but that is safe for the exposed circuit boards? g-10, plastic etc.

the whole thing smells like rear end grease now. very oily looking and smelling. corrotion x is not dry to the touch at all. puddled and wet still.

any ideas on electronics cleaner?

There is nothing that will cut that off without taking the silk screening with it. Automotive alternator/ starter motor cleaner would be my first try. Just make sure it is plastics safe, most modern ones are.

Sounds like there is still solvent in your corrosionX. You could try a strong fan on the quad for a day or two and see if it evaporates it all. Would be worth a try. If that doesn't fix it I would suggest buying a new brain. Its good to always have a spare control board anyway.

Try at your own risk.......

Rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits. Both are solvents that can cut oil but are relatively harmless to electronics & PC boards.

You can also try "contact cleaner" (contacts....like in switches, NOT EYEBALLS!!!!....... ) Most are "plastic safe".

i dunked the whole board in alcholhol, and scrubed it. then used some radio shack "precise electronics cleaner" bloted dry with towel, then let it sit in front of a hair dryer on high for 5 minutes.
gave it a shot. still acting crazy and unflyable.
i think i can still feel a slight oily film on it though. so not sure i removed it 100%. man that stuff is nasty.

i just wish i knew if it was the corrosion X or something else happened. i sprayed 2 planes and the quad with it. techinically every thing still works. ie getting power and working not shorted.

I have used corrosion X on a lot of electronics and never had an issue like you have Cory, I wonder if something else went wrong. Have you tested the other electronics you coated ?

gonna hit up autoparts store at lunch.
yeah im suspecting something else has gone wrong too.
everything else i sprayed works. including the the quad. just the gyros arent working and its hyper sensitive and litterally unflyable. i cant even get it 1/2" off the ground without it wanting to instaflip.
i just flew it saturday and it flew great. then i sprayed it with corrotion x and it wont fly now so i blamed that. but techically the elecs are powering up and "working"
and the other two planes work fine.

and the end of the story

went to autozone, luckily/unfortunatly they only had one of the cleaners on my list that yall mentioned. the MAF cleaner.

sprayed that on the FC board. tested. was maybe 5% better, not flyable, but a glimmer of hope i could at least get it like 1" off the ground.

(backstory, before in first post, it was the elevator/pitch that was out of control)
so i figured if a little MAF cleaner did a little good, half a can would do a lot of good right?
dried and tested. now the alerons/roll was out of control! ftw! the problem had moved! it did a VIOLENT instaflip. im glad i wasnt any closer i would have got cut up pretty bad.

so i sprayed more MAF cleaner and this time the problem moved to rudder/yaw and was over all feeling weird. i was also out of cleaner.

gave up and packing up and remembered in still have 3/4 can of the radioshack electronics cleaner i hadnt used much of the first post. so i sprayed that on the FC board, and i also noticed corotion X oil leaking out of the escs so i decided to spray those while i was there.

dried and tested and it works! battery was dead and i didnt trust it so i didnt go crazy but it was definatly flying normal.
charging batts and gonna do full test tonight.

so it was the corrotion x of some sort. as finiky as it was i feel like if a drop of that oil seeps back down a wire or the humidity in the garage gets too high, or its a full moon im gonna be right back where i started.
but happy for now
