I use RadioShack project boxes and seal them with liquid tape, only takes a very small amount to seal

Associated makes one as well. And I think Traxxas has at least two different ones, one may be the correct size. |

I just waterproof the rx. I don't have any room for a box in my rigs anyway.

The standard Wraith radio box is gasketed. Is that just for looks or ??

conformal coating is the way. if you dont want to actually waterproof your components and instead choose to try to keep them dry inside a box, this might sound weird but if you are going to put everything in a waterproof box, get a NEW tampon and put it in there somewhere along the bottom of the box to soak up any water that may creep in, then once your box is all together get some liquid e-tape, rtv, or the like and run a bead around every place where water could potentially get in. but, like i said, conformal coating is the way. |

btw, this is the type of thing i did before i embraced the conformal method. otterbox… had my super-rooster, rx, & bec all mounted inside with holes drilled into the bottom for the wires to pass through. i used rtv to seal up the holes i drilled. it worked ok… but it was bulky as heck and after submarining i would always find a little puddle of water inside the waterbox. i think it had to do with the water pressure since when i say submarine i mean a good foot or two underwater. ;) but yeah, if you really want a nice, waterproof box the smaller otterboxes are pretty decent. |
