Default More ESC Questions....

I've read through the other posts regarding ESCs even the definitive one, but don't see my scenario addressed...

Price is NOT a major consideration. I'm looking for an ESC that will handle two 55 turn lather motors and two hi-torque servos. I don't want to have to rig it in any way. I'd prefer bolt up and go.

If the Tekin fits the bill, GREAT!

What about the Novak Super Duty?

Will the Novak Crawler system handle two of those brushless motors? Is that too much of a power draw on the battery?

Thanks for any help!!!

I don't think you can run two brushless motors on any one esc.

lots of people are using the TR2 for crawling, especially in your situation.

no you cant run 2 brushless motors on a single ESC, pretty much any 1/10 ESC can handle 2 55t lathes. As for 2 High torque servos, it depends on what servos you use. 2 hitec 645 draw less power than 2 5645 digitals. i beleive a TR2 can handle 2 non digital servos so will a superrooster if you can find one. pretty much you want to see 5v/6v x 3amp BEC in the specs or more for a basis.

Thanks!

So, I can go with the Novak Super Duty.... Looks like from their website they can handle two motors and its a 6v/3 amp draw....

My buddy is running the super duty in his super, he ended up having to run a receiver pack to power his high power servos though. I don't think 3 amps is enough for 2 high power servos. The TR2 is 5 amp, but I haven't run one yet.

This is why I ask these questions

So, the Novak SD requires its own power source. So, does that mean I can plug a receiver pack directly into my reciever? This won't harm anything?

I ask as I'm a Nitro guy and only deal with one battery pack. I'm just trying to ensure the 6 cell sub C pack and the receiver pack without destroying the ESC....

So the TR2 IS the better choice??????

??
You don't use the esc switch to turn it on, you turn it on by plugging in your rx pack. If you plug in your rx pack and turn on the speed control switch at the same time, poof!! So just plug in your rx pack to your receiver, with your radio on or you can put a switch in between your rx pack and your receiver to turn it on and off.

I'm not sure if you can run 2 brushed motors on the Maxx. If you can though...best option in my opinion.

You'll have to run a reciever pack or a voltage regulator for your servo's,but thats no big deal. You'll have drag brake, which is worth it by itself. You'll also have the option of brushed or brushless(if you go with 1 motor)

I've decided to go with th TR2. Its just easier that way for me. I'll wait until someone "blazes that trail", whether its figuring out how to run two brushless motors or runs the Novak SD II with detailed instructions.

If and when that happens I'll gladly make the switch....

But for the time being I'll go with what we know

how do you know if your BEC isn't putting out enough current to power two high-torque servos? i have a Moped with two 55T lathes and a JR9000T and HiTec 5955TG in my Clod. i just got everything wired up tonight and was driving it around the house for 20 minutes or so terrorizing the cats and my kids. i didn't notice any problems, but i have no idea how to tell if i'm having a problem. nothing got hot (or even warm for that matter). granted, driving over piles of clothes is not rock crawling. :-P

When you get traction and get bound up, you'll notice glitching, no power to motor, servos won't work properly...

I am running two mopeds on my super with 1/4 scales, If I turn one off they won't pull the servos but with 6 amps they do pretty good.

On the mamba max you can run either brushed or brushless motor.

Yes, and you'll need one bl esc per motor...just use a Y-harness to connect them both to the rx.

I'm interested in running a Mamba Maxx esc. I want to know if I can run two 55 turn lathe motors, along with a high torque servo. I need a new esc and wouldnt mind getting one I can eventually go brushless with. Thanx

You can if you don't run more than 6 cells. More cells and the BEC amps go down proportionally.
