Default Waterproofing a transmitter/ radio

Ok so this weekend I went to a G6 race, well it poured the rain. Not an issue for my rig because it's well waterproofed but my radio (GT3C) got wet before I could get a plastic bag and all of a sudden my winch went full blast without me pushing anything and then the display was blank. I thought I was screwed, luckily my day was done but my radio dried out and worked a few hours later. So here's my question.... Can it be waterproofed with conformal coating just like we do the in rig items? Lemme know what your thoughts may be, any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

I can't answer your question about protecting your Tx, as I'm new to this stuff. But I'm a diver and not a newb undersea. A good emergency step to take with electronics that have had water infiltration is to douse or submerge everything with isopropyl alcohol. It displaces water very effectively.

Conformal coating on all the boards and dielectric grease in all the pots and switches. If I ever get the time I'm going to do my 4pl. Or my girlfriend's 4pl if I buy myself a new 4px.

I hear good things about corrosion X. Google Search it
And it's just a liquid spray, I've read it used on esc, servo guts. I haven't tried it myself yet but look forward to it.

plastic bag works for me...
keep one in my pocket if it looks like rain could occur.

The only place I could see being hard to waterproof is at the trigger. Every radio I know of has a pretty large gap there.

In the snow I usually just toss a gallon ziplock bag over my radio to keep it safe. It's easy to deal with and world perfectly.
