Default Double the battery life of DX6/DX3 for $16

Some of you have seen this, most probably haven't. I know I told a few of you about this mod at Moab.

http://www.dimensionengineering.com/...ektrum_mod.htm

I did this to my DX6 when it was giving me the "low battery alarm".

I've been using it for about an hour after the install and the alarm has yet to come back on.

Anything that takes 10 minutes to install and doubles TX battery life is well worth the $16.

hey jason, did you chek to see if your dx3 had the same regulator, the reason why i asked was, well i have a xs3-similar internals right? i have almost all the 10 channels occupied for various models, i use that controller all the time and i hate using my charger to charge up aa's; except for the ones that live in my 2.2 . COOL MOD!!

Yes, this will work on the DX3 as well. They use the same linear regulator. Bad thing is the XS3 uses totally different circuitry, so this mod doesn't work with the XS/XR series of radios.

Guess I should update the topic, eh?

does the signal being transmitted to the rc become weaker as the
distanace between them increase because of the battery draw from
280m-3.14watts to 123ma-1.38watts? or that's not an issue?

Going vertical...

The Watt measurements are from the battery, not transmitter output power. Those measurements were provided only to show that the switching regulator is more efficient than the stock linear regulator. Actual trasmit power isn't changed.

What this mod does is provide the radio's RF circuit with the same 3.3V needed to Xmit, but does so in a more efficient manner.

Think of it as getting the same horsepower, only with more MPG.

So would this mod work on a dx3.0 also? Mine runs the batteries down pretty quick. Has anyone done this yet & do you have pictures?

from what i have heard the dx3 has the same set up as the dx6 so it should work if it will fit.
