| Brushless for my scaler
I need help choosing a brushless system for my scaler im building. It will be going in my f350 crew cab scx10 im guessing it will weigh between 8 and 10 pounds. I will want it to be waterproof as i will be driving in water, mud, etc. my problem is ive only used brushed systems and brushless systems confuse me as far as kv, 4 pole, etc. from my research people like to use the ROC or CC SV3 not sure what kv i need or anything i dont have a budget, but dont want to get something that is overkill. anyways what should i get. please help me out. 3100kv seems to be the normal or average in most rigs.. I personally use a HH Trailmaster BL in my scaler as all as my sons wraith (which is in mine right now.. ) It has really good start up, plenty of top speed and Nasty torque! Unfortunately most BL motors aren't waterproof.. But... Can be waterproofed pretty easily.. Plenty of threads on here covering it. I use tekin RS esc's on 2 pole, which the Trailmaster BL is. As well as tekin redline motors and the likes. Pro4 and ROC are 4pole.. Which I use a tekin RX8 for.. You'll want a sensored BL system for crawling, which I don't believe the SV3 is. The other option for a ESC is a castle MMP. Hope it helps. |

Castle MMP Hobbywing 3400kv motor Great setup and it won't break the bank. |

Ive only run brushless in my scalers since I started a couple years ago. If you want fast the roc 412 3100 or pro 4 3300 are good choices. I really like the roc412 2300 kv motor monster torque and plenty of wheel speed really smooth geared right. Ive also have been playing with the holmes outrunners quite a bit. The 540 outrunner 2000kv and the stubby version which is also 2,000kv. Man those things have unreal torque and plenty of wheel speed. Ive ran it in 3 comps now and I love it. I only run mmp's because of cost and I have both the field link and castle link. I havent ran any of the holmes in runners yet but have seen them perform and they look like a nice option. |

I'm sure I'll need all the torque I can get as the system will be going in a heavy rig with a bomb proof transmission and transfer case

I would take a good look at the holmes outrunner. Although I havent had it in water yet but its taken all the abuse ive thrown at it. The 2,300kv roc412 would be another good option.
