Default Quark Procar 33A....getting HOT!!!

This thing is getting hot....after a few minutes its almost too hot to touch. Anyone else having these issues as well?

Pede tranny with 12/87 gearing in a sw2 w/tlt axles.
Park 400 740kv motor
Battery is a 3 cell lipo 1800mah 11.1V
Spectrum dx3 radio
hi-tec 5995tg servo

ESC settings are as follows:

Direct reverse
100% Brake
li-poly hi for battery selection
outrunner
drag brake on
race mode
noise cancel off
torque is set to dynamic
delayed brake/reverse is set to .2 seconds
narrow neutral range

SicJ is running same exact setup and his heat sink is much cooler after thrashing on it.

Thanks
Brian

Are you running different tires than SicJ? Is your drivetrain as easy to turn? driveline angles not binding any, etc? What is the temp of the motor? Have a temp gun?

Same masher 2k's as him but a little more hacked up. Driveline angles are good and nothing is binding. I havnt checked the temp of the motor yet...I have a mini temp gun so Ill check it out later on today.

Thanks
Brian

Mine was getting hot with the park 400 on 8 ib 1400 cells so I removed 1 cell and its fine now never even gets warm.I did notice when I had the 8 cells as long as I was giving it alot of throttle it was fine but when I was trying to crawl real slow is when it got super hot.

it is weird.... I've been running the quark and park 400 with a 3 cell 1500mah LiPo for about 3-4 months now and have not had a problem. That why I recomended it to him.

The only time mine got as hot as HD2500's was when I had the batt setup on the ESC set to "Nimh High" and I was using a LiPo....switched the battery setting to "LiPo high" and the temps dropped down to normal.

His esc has to be getting around 150*+

this is his 2nd ESC so I think it has something to do with the motor....

unless your not on the "LiPo high" setting

took it out today to see what the temps were after a few minutes of running around.

the motor never got above 65° the esc got to about 111°.

No binding in the axles or the drivelines. The mesh is set correct on the pinion/spur. I even reprogrammed it.

For those of you using the esc, when throttle is applied what color does the led light up?

Traxxas spur adapter was rubbing on the stampede case. I didnt add the supplied washer and i guess the little bit of friction was too much for the esc. ran it for about 10 minutes and esc ran cool.......
