| For those that are using/considering lithium-polymers...
Here's a couple of good discussions I have bookmarked. For those that are looking into using li-pos I think you should read these two posts. The first shows what happens when you don't properly care for li-pos. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=209187 The 2nd is a cheap and light audible alarm. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221018 Anyway, thought I'd share. Li-pos just need to be taken care of... Most of the fires you see in that post are from improper charging. Other than charging, exposure to heat, a puncture in the aluminum wrap, etc can cause a li-po to become unstable. I posted this 'cause I figure than more and more people will switch to li-pos in the upcoming year in an effort to reduce weight. (or simply have the ability to mount a lighter pack with the same voltage high in the chassis) li-pos should be monitored when they are being charged. That first link is a prime example as to why. When I charge mine the pack is sitting on the concrete garage floor...away from anything flammable. |

Good idea to post this Jason. LiPos are cool, but they are very high maitinence compared to NiCds. And if not cared for properly; :nuke:

THANKS FOR THE INFO - Now I know that they can be safe if properly used but thats too much risk for me! I'll stick to my NiMH for now.
