Default rs10 esc question

Hey guys, I have a Venom Creeper a roller. My buddy gave me an esc that came out of a rs10. I know its a motor on axle esc with 4 wires coming out for the motor. I was just wanting to know if you can just do away with 2 of the wires and use like that? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Flyguy is right about the wiring. Just make sure you do something to the wires you cut. So they don't short out anything.
And I wouldn't run lipo power to that esc. 7.2 nimh only. I tried 2s in my rs10 a few years ago aND it let the smoke out.

I have never had an issue with 2S LiPo, in fact I run 3S LiFePo4 (9.9v.) The Lansau ESC in the RS10xt is built to support 2S LiPo as it has a 6v LVC built in (you can disable it) The manual is on the redcat website.

I know of a few that run 3S LiPo, but you run the risk of letting the magic smoke escape, more often than not the extra power causes the diff pin to strip through the plastic locker plate, I learned the hard way. If you bump the input voltage you need to use a BEC and rewire the fan to the BEC because it runs off batt voltage. The extra voltage will burn up the fan which will allow the ESC to overheat.

MAGIC SMOKE WARNING: DO NOT USE THE INTERNAL BEC IF YOU EXCEED 2S LiPo!!!!

I bought a 2nd ESC and run dual ESC on my RS10xt, both driven by a 9.9v batt capable of 120 amps of continuous output. I've run it for hours straight with no issues. Be warned if you do run more than 2S LiPo you void the warranty.
