Default Terra Claw 55t with no torque?

I replaced the motor in my night crawler with a novak terra claw 55t and I literally lost torque. I stall out on climbs that the stock motor could easily handle. The motor and esc never get hot. All 3 uF capacitors are soldered just like the instructions recommend.

Positive - Negative
Positive - Can
Negative - Can

Im using the stock nightcrawler esc, stock gearing and a turnigy 6000mah 50c lipo.

Well what gearing are you running? Are the wires plugged in correctly? Any damaged wires? These can all be possibilities of your issue. Make sure the wires are not damaged or... that new motor may be a defect from the factory.

I can assure you I have the polarity correct and there are no splices in any wires. Maybe a factory defect.

Either way no worries

I'd be checking the timing. If it's too retarded it will have no power.

Haha alright well at least that part is good, most likely a factory defect. Good luck

And closed end bell motors have timing adjustments? Those Tera Claws appear to not have timing adjustments unless it's through the esc. If that esc did have adjustments I'm sure the timing doesn't go much more than default, if you know what I mean.

This is strange!
I'd expect you to lose speed, since the Losi stock motor is 35T and hence more speed and power but less torque...

Do check the gear mesh and other sources of friction! That's (to me) the most plausible source for your problems.

had the same issue with a 35t terra. lost torque and speed over stock 27t. ripped the label off and it was better but not good. bought a rc4wd 45t for 9 bucks and the truck rocks. even has more torque with an 80 spur

The LNC worms need a powerful motor to be at their best. A 55T won't be able to put enough power to be fun to drive. And on top of that, if you are geared higher to overcome the loss of speed, you will just kill the motor.
A very good 35T on 3S or brushless setup is what a LNC likes. These motors can put the power to turn the inefficient worms.
I have a cheap 1800kv Sensored brushless on 3S with a 25T pinion and my LNC is smooth and fast!
