Default Novak 5.5 Velocity and GTB

I just bought a Novak 5.5 Velocity motor and a GTB controller has anyone had any experience with this setup in a crawler application?

Put it on enough gear reduction and it will work. I used to run a 5800 in my TXT, had it about 170:1 final ratio on stock tires.

Nope, the motor never got warm. With that much reduction and torque, I could snap ANYTHING in the drive train anytime I wanted

Throw a gd600 on it or one of the rc4wd reductions, and you would have a VERY powerful crawler system. As RD stated, it will snap anything.

Up hill off road drag racing. or Speed climbing.
These vehicles would be suited to that type of event.

And a lot of fun to drive.

Default Novak GTB 5.5 brushless

My local hobby shop sold me the GTB 5.5 system along with my new Axial Scorpion kit. Its all put together and running but I havnt tried to program it yet and I noticed that it has instant full on power in reverse. Can anybody tell me how to program the controler for best results. One of the default programs show a set point of 25% in reverse but that seems like alot because Im using a lipo also and the thing jumps scrate up when appling full throttle. HELP!!!

I'd take that 5.5 back, thats for racing, not off roading, trailriding, or crawling. Get a Crawler system or any old ESC and a 55T lathe motor.

So you bought a speed motor for your crawler and now it's too fast. Go figure.

Best bet would be to take it back and slap the guy who sold it to you.
