| quad mag with lathe?
lol ok this is kind of a wierd question, but one person has put the inside of a traxxas scorpion (lol i forget the name)and put it in a quad mag motor can and said it was a super good motor, so my question is can i put the middle of a 35 turn lathe in my quad mag can? i know it would be powerfull as heck so i might give it a shot but im just checking to see what u guys say |

Yea, you can make hybrid motors pretty easily. The Traxxas 20 turn Stinger motor has a great amature so thats why many people install it into a good can. That will give you stronger magnets and adjustable timing. I have also thought about doing this with lathe motor armatures like you are saying. Just be sure to balance the armature in the can properly with the shims to get maximun power out of it. |

well i did it (i couldnt stop my self)and this this has atleast 10% more power(torqe, and speed, and run time i dont know yet as i havent ran it down but it seems like its not affected and if it is not by much!!!!!!!!! i love it... and i dont have pics but, u will need any 2 kinds of motors one with the rotor (lathe) and one for the can (19 trun quad mag) and u open them up and pull each rotor out and put it in the can u want and shim it so theres no play in it but still free and get the right brushes for the rotor because the quad mag's comm is fatter than a lathe motor's and then play with it (timeing) and then its ready to kick butt if u want i can do it better and get pics asap???? | |
