Default ESC overheating and Motor Gets hot

for a while ive been having problems with my esc overheating. its a LRP AI Quantum Runner Reverse. It seems like it takes alot for the motor to get my Maxx crawler moving. My crawl ratio is 47.46, with 11/72 gearing. Should i run a GD600 on it? I am running a maxx trans locked in first

Yes, Maxx crawlers need a GD600.

You didn't mention....what motor?

Im running a Fantom 27 turn spec motor. ( its all i have ) What do you recommend for a motor? My esc can handle up to 18turns. What should i run for a reduction? 2.5:1,3.0:1 or 3.8:1

Thanks

Just guessing,I'd say the 2.5 would put you about right with that motor. I'd also recommend getting a few different pinions to try. You also need to figure in the number of cells your running. Adding cells will generally let you run a little taller gear for more wheelspeed but the low end power will be better as well. Depending on how many cells you run....you might go up or down a tooth or two on the pinion to find the ratio you like best.

Everyones a little different and runs a little different ratio that suits them best.

My son runs a 27 turn,3.0 GD,66 tooth spur and a 12 tooth pinion. I can't remember exactly what his ratio is but it's somewhere in the 80:1 range. For a little 27 turn brushed motor,I feel that around 80:1 is a good combo of wheelspeed and low end if you run 8 cells or more.

Or you can eliminate the reduction and just run a big outrunner My ratio in my truck is 64:1 and it rocks on 8 cells. 9 cells might be better though
