| Esc question
I am somewhat new to the rc world, recently bought an ax10 with ar60 axles in it and have done some minor upgrades My esc is glitchy and turns off by itself a lot so I'm looking for a new one I'm 15 and do not have a job, so I have roughly 70 dollars to spend on one Any input would be greatly appreciated! |

Which situations make it glitchy and turn off? If it happens when you're trying to steer it alot on the rocks, could possibly be just a bec is needed.

What tooth pinion and spur gears are you running? As mentioned above, verify that you are not over heating the motor and ESC by putting your finger on both the motor and ESC after running for a while. Could be that you need to change the gearing.

Sounds like a bad connection to me. Turn it on and move the wires around one at a time and see if it glitches/turns off.

I checked the connections and though I noticed it before I didn't pay much attention to it but the wires leading from the esc to both the battery and motor were cut pretty close to the esc by the previous owner and where new wires were attatched it's pretty ugly. Also, towards the end of the wires for the battery (where the wires go into the battery connector) it is very flimsy feeling, it feels as though when it's wiggled it's going to fall out. I knew about this but did not think that it could make it glitchy Is there a way to replace the entire wire from the esc or should I spend some money and get a good reliable esc? Here are some pictures of the connections |

Hey there, I would start by taking the tape off the connectors towards the ends of the wires. Make sure it has a solid connection. If the wires aren't well connected or the plug itself is very loose that may be the issue. Disconnect it from a battery and inspect. The little cuts on the wire insulation near the ESC don't look like anything to worry about |

I will tell you the single most valuable tool for an rc enthusiast is a soldering station, period. With the repairs I've been able to do (that would not have been possible with a pencil type iron) the soldering station has payed for itself many times over. I know you said your 15 but you can always buy a used one. And it is Christmas time after all. One more thing, do yourself a favor and read this.http://www.rctech.net/forum/radio-el...ef-lesson.html Last edited by mrG; 12-08-2014 at 07:32 PM. |

I've had the same problem and replacing the on/off switch or removing it all together and twist or solder the wires together. Sometimes it's the simplest thing. |
