| 4WL Steer Question? ASAP
My buddy just got a TLT Custom Crawler, well, after one trip found out the rear servo, had bad gears.... So he wanted to upgrade, since it was a small 3003 or 303. Now with the new one installed, both servos, turn the same direction, instead of opposite... Its a Hobbico 645 or something like that, its all metal gears....High Torque... What is the deal? Sorry to be so dumb, but.... So you are saying the old Servo, had a reverser already on it?? or was it some type of reversed servo? or We unhooked something and missed it that the servo hooked to... Littery all we did, was swap the two servos... The old steered the 4wl right, the new doesnt? I will look and see, he does, have three channels, but just assumed what ever the old owner did, for the 4wl steer, just buy replacing a servo wouldnt bother it. |

ONE of 3 things may have happened(1)the old owner took 1 servo apart and reveresed the wiring to make 1 servo reversed or (2) one servo is a differenet brand.hi tec servo's turn in the oposite direction then the futaba (3) when you took the servos off you reverse one-meaning you put them both pointing the same direction when one of them where origanally pointing the oposite way.i've seen one that way so it is posible

The radio should have a servo reverser for the 3rd channel. Hit that switch and it should change the direction.

| Servo Reversing
They are not selling them yet, but www.clodmodracing.com has a TQ3 radio that does servo mixing onto the 3rd channel.

DBrown2, If both front and rear servos are being controled from the same chanel with a Y harness and if all you did was unplug the old one and then plug the new one in... I am going to have to agree with SPEED RACER that the servos that you switched opperate in different directions or that the guy that had it before him manually rewired the inside to work in the other direction than it was intended. Anyway I know it is not the brand of servo that he is using now but here is a write up on how to rewire a servo so it will work in the opposite direction. "Q. How can I reverse the direction of my analog servo? A. The easiest way to reverse direction is to use the reverse switch in the transmitter. If you have two servos on a y-harness one will have to be modified for reverse rotation or a reversing y-harness used. There are four wires that must be switched in order to change the servo direction. Two are on the motor and 2 are on the potentiometer. Switch the red and green wires on the pot and the orange and brown wires on the motor. Hitec provides these instructions for information purposes only. Hitec assumes no liability when modifications are made to servos." For a picture go here http://www.hitecrcd.com/nsupport_SFS.htm Click on "Product Support" then on "FAQ's" then on "General Servos" lastly click on "How can I reverse the direction of my analog servo?" I hope this helps, Merrixs |
