Default Free 2.4GHz RXs

As many of you may know, the new Blade CX2 comes with a 2.4GHz radio system.

The heli uses a 4-in-1 module. Inside this module is the ESC for each of the two motors, the gyro, and a six channel 2.4GHz RX.

The CX2's radio isn't a standard Spektrum type unit, it uses Spektrum's newer DSM2 technology...the same technology that's in the new DX7.

When CX2 owners crash the helis under throttle and the blade strike objects they can cook the FETs on the ESC/gyro portion of the 4-in-1.

Great thing is that the ESC/Gyro board piggybacks on the RX board.

If someone toasts their 4-in-1 they've only killed that particular board...the RX is still totally functional in most cases.

So...there you have it. Free six channel RXs every time someone toasts their 4-in-1.

The RX board in the CX2 is basically this unit: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdId=SPM6100

I should add that the DSM2 RXs will not work with the DX6.

I have NO idea...I'm a stupid bastid.

I bought a DX7 for use with my planes since I had modded the DX6 for ground use.

When the CX2 came out I was like "oh...waaaaiiit a second....DSM2 in the CX? SWEET!"

So...common sense told me that the CX2 and DX7 would talk to one another. ;)

They do. I need to program a profile in my DX7 for the CX2 , sell more CX2s, and wait for folks to crash....then I'll have virtually limitless micro RXs.

Just waiting for more folks in my area to crash and be ready to toss thier 4-in-1s.

Nah, customer cooked a 4-in-1. I just took that chance to bind the DX7 to his old RX.

The transmitter is $60

No EPA or anything fancy, but I'm sure you could put pots on each channel for EPA.

What's interesting is that Channel 5 has a rotary knob.

I'm using that knob to work a rather cool function on a rig I'm working on.
