Default 9.6v rx pack?

I have a NiMH 9.6v 650mA battery, (receiver pack size) that I used for my helicopter. Helicopter is now “parts”. Can I use the battery for a receiver pack? If the voltage is too high can I remove a couple batteries? My guess is NO.

Most servos can barely handle 7.2V, I wouldn't give em 9.6V if I were you. If you remove two cells and make it 7.2V make sure to cut the red wire on the esc to receiver connection or never turn the switch on. Sending 7.2 volts back into the BEC of the ESC might smoke it.

If you remove 3 cells and make it 6V and your ESC has a 6V BEC rating you will be fine.
