Default Lipo for M11?

Does anyone know of a lipo that fits in an M11 radio?

I hate the 700Mah NiCd I have for it.

Have you thought about using something like GP2500 AA's? I think I would be far less worried about NiMh in my M11 than leaving Lipo's in there. One of the other problems could be that a fully charged 3S lipo might have a higher voltage than the M11 can handle and 2S wouldn't be enough.

how many cells does it use, and what are the dimensions of the cell holder?

As standard, it uses 8 AA sized cells and the interior dimensions of the battery compartment are approximately 2 5/16"W x 4 1/4"L x 9/16"D

The only bad thing about that is the capacity. I think I'd rather stick with rechargeable AA's at 2500mAh than to have a 1000mAh Lipo at more than 2x the cost. Great find though for those interested.

Same here also. Look for the Chinese made Energizers, they'll be your best bet.

Are they distinguishable without having to read the package? Like a slightly different package or cell logo?

I was told by someone at the LHS that I shouldn't use the charging port on the transmitter and charge the pack seperatly. I've always used the charging port with no problems, but would hate to fry a $300 transmitter.

What do you do?

Thanks christoleher, I'll check that out and give them a call. I remember one being 1900mah.

The only reason I was looking for lipo was because of the weight. Holding that thing for a couple of hours gets heavy. Thought a lipo would lighten it up a little.

Lipo would certainly help in the weight department. If it were me, I would definitely remove the Lipo pack prior to charging, just in case a problem occured. Also, the pack should generate less heat during charging since it won't be holed up in a small non-vented area.

I'm using a 3-cell 1320 Thunder Power in my MX-3 (can be used in M11)

having 8 rechargeable batts is only 9.6v, the battery alarm sounds off around 9.2v saying the batts are too low....

way better to have a 12v batt than a 9.6v IMO and you CAN leave the LiPo hooked up and charge through the charging jack. It does not run the LiPo down cause the radio has an internal "watch battery" for the memory.

plus you just can't beat how light the radio is....

Is it the TP1320-3SPL pack?
