Default 55t Integy Or 2.2 Reduction

SO WHY ARE MOST OF YOU RUNNING THE 55T OR 65T INTEGY MOTORS VERSUS RUNNING THE RC4WD 2.2 GEAR REDUCTIONS WITH SILVER CAN 540'S.

LOOKING AT TORQUE #'S POSTED BY
EGRESSor

have some torque numbers

pullmaster 12t 6.5oz/in@10Amps
pullmaster 10t 4.8oz/in@10A
modified MM 5.5oz/in@10A
5pole 15T 540 5.4oz/in@10A
lathe 55T 4.9oz/in@10A
RS540RH 5.0oz/in@6A the Mabuchi will not suck more amps
Johnson540 27t 4.8oz/in@10A

THE 540 PULLS 5.0 oz OF TORQUE AT 6 AMPS, WITH THE 2.2 THAT WOULD BE DOUBLED TO 10.2 oz OF TORQUE AT LESS THAN 6 AMPS.

ALSO LOOKING AT THE AMP DRAW #'S BELOW RELATED TO RPM, IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE AMP DRAW WOULD ONLY BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER.

OVERALL IT SEEMS THEY WOULD HAVE MORE TORQUE, LONGER RUN TIMES, AND MORE TOP END FOR CRAWLING THAN THE 55T INTEGYS.

WHAT AM I MISSING?

Jam1sstang POSTED RPM #'S FROM A DYNO.

Thought I'd post some info from DYNO testing some motors.

All DYNO information is an average of (4) 20 second runs at 7.2 Volts.
DYNO used was an INTEGY INDI DYNO V2.

NEW INTEGY 45T single Lathe motor -- 9325 Rpm's and .66 Amps

NEW INTEGY 55T single Lathe motor -- 8450 Rpm's and .62 Amps

NEW INTEGY 65T single Lathe motor -- 6400 Rpm's and .43 Amps

Used TRAXXAS Stinger 20t single -- 18500 Rpm's and 1.94 Amps

Used TITAN 550 -- 13400 Rpm's and 1.68 Amps

you would be suprised at the difference in run time you get out of such a small about of amp. difference. I had a johnson silver can on a gd600 and I got about 40 minutes of run time on a subC 3300 pack. I switched to a 65t lathe and I get arround an hour and 20 min. I know that the amps seem small but when you convert them to milliamps the #'s increase alot and milliamps are what the batteries are rated at. just like a 3600 mah battery last quite a bit longer than a 3300 mah pack. the #'s aren't that much different but the results are very noticable.

Overall It Seems They Would Have More Torque, Longer Run Times, And More Top End For Crawling Than The 55t Integys.

What Am I Missing?

With The Gear Reductions It Would Take 2.2x Less Energy To Get Things Moving Though.

You are also missing rpm numbers.

you realy get an hour runtime from 55 turns....I should have switched to electric sooner.

yes and no! when you double the reduction you have to double your motor rpms to get the same results as before. and with say a 55 or 65 turn motor you can let off the trigger and get the same speed with less amps. it is a fact that the less turns on a motor the more draw that motor has. thats why a 12 T motor is so much faster than a stock 27 turn. a motor can't be faster without using more energy its simple physics. so even though you will get the torque out of a stock motor by adding a GR you won't be saving any energy because the motor will still draw the same no matter what gearing you have.

As far as the motors though.....you could just get a brushless motor and CRUSH either one of those motors

plus and this is huge... well waht i noticed is you have one speed with the gear reduction system slow, i think there is defintiley more variety in speed incase you need to hop up or down somethin.
know what im saying?
